How to Play
Cultivate a colony of microscopic cells until every one has bloomed.
The one rule
Press a cell and drag to another. They become opposite corners of a rectangle. The move is legal only when it spans at least 2 rows and 2 columns and all four corner cells currently share the same color. Interior cells can be anything.
On a legal release
Every unconverted cell inside becomes a Bloomform — permanently.
Every cell inside, Bloomforms included, evolves to a new color.
New colors immediately change which corners match next.
Bloomforms can be recolored again and again, and reused as corners.
Colors evolve, they don't cycle
Each cell's next color is drawn from the culture's own deterministic chemistry — it depends on where the cell sits, its current color and how many legal moves you have made. With three or more colors available it is always a different color, but never a predictable march around the palette. While a legal rectangle is drawn, every enclosed cell shows exactly the color it will become.
Culture Stability
Stability drains only while you are actively playing. It freezes in menus, help, pauses, summaries and when the tab is hidden.
Every freshly converted cell restores a little stability — big first-time conversions buy real breathing room.
A recolor-only move (everything inside is already bloomed) costs you time and restores nothing. Setup has a price.
At zero you enter Last Chance: stability freezes and you get exactly one final legal move. Illegal drags cost nothing. If that move blooms the last cells, it is a Miracle Bloom and the stage is won.
Scoring
Points only for newly converted cells — already-bloomed cells never score again.
A modest size bonus when a move converts at least one fresh cell.
Recolor-only moves score 0 but still count as a move. Illegal drags cost nothing at all.
Each stage ends with a bounded efficiency bonus comparing your move count to the culture's known solution.
Controls & restarting
Mouse, touch or pen: press, drag, release. Release outside the grid cancels.
Keyboard: arrows move the cursor, Space anchors then confirms, Esc cancels.
Restart Stage rebuilds the identical board and rewinds your score, moves, time and stability to the moment you entered the stage — there is nothing to farm.
Esc closes this and other overlays.
Paused
Stability and the clock are frozen.
Leave this run?
Your progress in this run will be lost.
Stage Complete
Every cell has bloomed.
SPECIMEN SECURED
Culture Lost
Stability reached zero and the final move did not complete the culture.
Run Complete
All four specimens cultivated. The QUADBLOOM is whole.
